Artist and scientist (a graduate of the French engineering school Ecole Centrale, he earned a PhD on "the optics of the eye and contour vision"), Charles LAPICQUE is above all a researcher. His painting, like his scientific work, revolves around a chromatic research that was "dictated" to him by ancient ceramics, stained glass, and Poitevin enamel cloisons. His work, indescribable, is of rare richness due to the multiplicity of subjects addressed, but above all due to the incredible talent that LAPICQUE had for approaching space with both rigor and poetry.
