Chic underwear... The perfect definition of John Kacere's works! By inventing his subject and repeating it obsessively, Kacere became a master. Despite being contested by some, he proves himself to be a remarkable painter, mastering his technique and bringing it to a rare sophistication (just look at those satin textures to be convinced). Throughout his nearly 50-year career, Kacere established himself as a unique artist, paving the way for a new genre: erotic photorealism.
John Kacere, native of Iowa in 1920, obtained his first painting contract at the age of 12.
But it wasn't until the early 1950s that he began to exhibit, as an abstract artist...
While teaching (University of Manitoba, University of Florida, or even University of New Mexico), he continued to explore different techniques before finding his path in 1963.
There, in a unique style, he began to create paintings that would bring him fame and fortune! What some call photorealism or hyperrealism, he simply refers to as the pursuit of perfection in its most minute details!
Never showing a face, he explores satins and lace, rediscovering the concerns of Renaissance artists for drapery, confronting the vagaries of transparency, and thus exposing his vision of femininity.
While openly sensual and erotic, his paintings are never pornographic, stopping at suggestion, at the birth of desire.
Painter of fantasies with a sophisticated brushstroke and beautifully masculine obsessions, John Kacere has established himself as a unique artist, having traversed new territory and brought it to rare perfection.
He passed away in 1999, at the age of 79.
