Naive, happy, luminous, Titi Bécaud's painting is a reflection of the Polynesia she loves so much... A beautiful place full of softness, rocked by the warmth of the trade winds, with flowers in shimmering colors, traditional Polynesian fare, Tahitian musical instruments, fishermen from Bora Bora, and dreamy lagoons with multicolored fish... A unique and wonderfully portrayed universe!
Native of the XIVth Parisian district, Titi BECAUD grew up in the Alps before discovering painting at the age of 23 in Var.
In the early 70s, she was already painting in a naive style, where all the planes blend, where colors dance on the canvas.
In 1982, aboard her sailboat, she embarked on a long journey, filled with pictorial stops. From Nassau to Puerto Seguro, from Newport to La Jolia, she traveled the world and painted it. Snapshots of a journey that shaped her mind and her eye, her works radiate tenderness.
In 1990, she stopped her journey and settled in the lagoon of Bora-Bora, where she would sketch a world, colors, and shapes, perfectly in tune with her painting.
Enriched with lithographs (a technique that allows for the perfect expression of her art), her work becomes one of the symbols of French Polynesia, chosen to illustrate a stamp celebrating the Year of the Woman with one of its vahinés.
