Seascapes and Provençal landscapes

Artistic movements

Figurative Painting, Contemporary Provençal School

Inspiration, influence

If he admires Bonnard, Van Gogh, or Camille Corot, it is the Spaniards Antoni Tapies and Antoni Clavé who will help him overcome his doubts and hesitations so that he can fully embark on painting.

His contemporaries

André Dérain, Albert Marquet, Moïse Kisling, Othon Friesz

To keep in mind

The softness of his landscapes with pastel colors, the choice of his Provencal subjects, the landscapes he had around him, make "Boule" (his nickname) a true regionalist painter who embraced it, but with the balance of his art, he exhibited and was recognized around the world.

To go further

Toulon was his city, his universe!! Born in Place du Pavé d'Amour near Cours Lafayette, just a few meters from the harbor, he taught at the Fine Arts School of the city, worked as a decorator (for both the city's theater and the brothels in the Chicago neighborhood, just a stone's throw from the port) and lived there all his life.
