Forefront figure of the Nouveaux Réalistes, ARMAN is one of the most representative visual artists of the various artistic movements that crossed the seventies, particularly the Nouveau Réalisme which advocates the use of recycled materials, which he co-founded with Yves Klein, César, Nikki de Saint Phalle, and Christo. Heirs of American Pop Art, Magritte's surrealism, and Marcel Duchamp's philosophy, these artists seized the everyday objects of our society that was beginning to buckle under the first assaults of overconsumption, to divert, compress, distort, or accumulate them... Presenting them differently, for us to rediscover the charm and interest in what surrounded us... He was awarded the Legion of Honour in 1989.
ARMAN's works can be seen in public spaces in nearly a hundred cities around the world, where he had monumental urban works erected in the 1980s, such as violins, cars, or clocks like the one at the Gare Saint Lazare in Paris. His works are displayed in the 90 largest museums in the world.
