Primitivism

Primitivism appeared at the beginning of the 20th century in Russia, highlighting naive forms. It is a movement that draws its inspiration from popular images, icons (religious or not), but also peasant culture (particularly true for Kasimir Malevitch). Paul Klee, Joan Miro, and Alberto Giacometti can also be associated (for some of their works) with this movement, as well as Paul Gauguin in his Polynesian production. Primitivism is in opposition to Modernism.
