Baroque Art

The Baroque Art is a movement that originated in Italy in the 16th century and spread throughout Europe until the end of the 18th century.
The main characteristics of the Baroque are the chiaroscuro (and marked shadow play), the theatrical expressions of the human figures depicted, and the construction with diagonal lines of force.
The main artists are Caravaggio in Italy, Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Rubens in the Netherlands and Flanders, Velazquez in Spain, and Poussin and Georges de la Tour in France.
