Constructivism is a pictorial movement that emerged in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century. It is linked to Malevich's Suprematism.
Focusing on geometric composition, the research of the involved artists is very rigorous and non-figurative, fundamentally.
It was the main pictorial movement in Russia at the time of the Bolsheviks' victory and accompanied the Russian Revolution in its early years, giving its imagery very recognizable and definitive structures to Soviet advertising.
More generally, Constructivism is also linked, besides Suprematism, to Bauhaus (Kandinsky, Klee), Italian Futurism, and De Stijl (Mondrian).
