Narrative Figuration

A pictorial movement that emerged in France in the 1960s, in opposition to abstraction, Narrative Figuration advocates a return to figuration (accompanying the movements of New Figuration and Free Figuration). Although associated with New Realism and Pop Art, its artists were not fond of the hegemonic trends of the American movement.
It is a movement that accompanied the "revolts" of the 1960s, especially May 68 in France.
Among the artists who defined themselves as belonging to this movement are Peter Klasen, Erro, Valério Adami, Jacques Monory, Bernard Rancillac, Eduardo Arroyo, Jan Voss, Hervé Télémaque, Joan Gardy Artigas, and Vladimir Velickovic.
