Modernism (in painting) is a movement that encompasses various movements that emerged in the West at the beginning of the 20th century, including Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Cubism, Fauvism, Dada, Surrealism and Abstraction in general.
All of these movements had their own characteristics, but each of them swept away what classicism had been for three centuries.
