Biography of Hub

Hub, born Humbert Chabuel, in Annecy, in 1969, is a French comic book artist and writer.
Despite a declared passion for comics from a young age, he drifted away for several years after art school and a very successful experience on Luc Besson's "The Fifth Element" as a designer, alongside Jean-Claude Mezières.

In Paris, he founded Oki Doki, a company specializing in computer-generated imagery for video games, advertising, and audiovisual production.
At 35, he returned to his first love and proposed "Okko" to Delcourt, a comic book set in a feudal Japan with a touch of science fiction, as the heroes (Okko, the masterless samurai, and his companions Nobro, Noshin, and Tikku) are ghost hunters and other demonic creatures.

The quality of his line work, the impressive exploration of Japanese culture, the details (costumes, backgrounds, vegetation), the play of light and shadow, day and night, make this series, which is expected to have 10 volumes (2 albums per cycle), one of the most in-depth, visually, of the 2000s.
As if that weren't enough, Hub seems as friendly as he is talented, so he's definitely one to watch!
